Howdy!”
from Camp Karakey!
It’s high time we saddle up for the
Regis Wild West Round-up!
This year we are traveling into the era of the Wild
West. Imagine entering Old Tucson or Dodge City for an evening of entertainment
and socializing with friends and neighbors. Dress to blend in with the
cowboys or “dress to the nines,” it is all up to you. Just
remember to obey the Cowboy Code and “Remove your guns before
sittin’ at the dining table.” and “Never pass anyone
on the trail without sayin’ ‘Howdy.’”
Our dedicated gift committee is feverishly acquiring hundreds of items
for your bidding pleasure. If you have an item you would like to donate,
please contact Tami Brentano at 503-769-6961 or Debbie Beitel at 503-769-2585.
The solicitation committee volunteers will be calling soon to ask for
a donation. Put on your thinking caps and be ready for their call. To
be included in the catalog, all donations must be confirmed by August
31, 2010. This sounds early, but there is much behind-the-scenes work
in producing the catalog and time is of the essence. If you would like
to contact the solicitation committee, please call Kelly Alley at 503-769-1188
or Tracie McGill at 503-769-6557.
The “chuck wagon” committee will scout out the best flavors
of the west for your taste buds, promising a variety of appetizers followed
by a hearty meal and scrumptious dessert. As always, the “Saloon”
will be well stocked and ready to quench your thirst after the long
ride into town.
If you have room in your stable for a “BRAND NEW CAR” be
sure to get your raffle ticket. This year we have a 2010 Chevy Malibu
that you can take home to your ranch. Ticket prices are $100 per chance
and only 500 tickets will be sold. To purchase your raffle tickets,
contact Joe and Leslie Usselman at 503-767-2562 or Gay Frank at 503-769-6243.
Watch for the car in the Stayton 4th of July parade. Better yet, join
Regis students and athletes walking with the car on the parade route
and toss candy to the spectators. Kids and adults are welcome! Bring
a bottle of water and your sunscreen and meet in the Regis parking lot
at 3:30 on the 4th. You can dress up in red, white and blue or your
favorite Regis attire, or pull on your cowboy boots and show your Wild
West spirit. Also, look for the car to be on display during the summer
at Regis and around town at community events. Thank you, Power Auto
Group, for generously donating the car.
We invite everyone to be involved in the auction. Let us count the ways....
Attend as a guest, purchase car raffle tickets, donate items, volunteer
to help the night of the auction and/or prior to auction night. Choose
one option or choose them all. This is our family’s fifth year
with the Regis Auction. We look back on each year with fond memories,
and always look forward to the next. The satisfaction from helping to
sustain Catholic education in our community cannot be expressed in words.
Someone from the various committees will be calling for your help over
the next couple of months. Please share your time and talents with them
as we all work together to make this year’s auction another successful
event. It is because of that spirit of generosity from the community
and families that the auction has taken place every year for over 30
years. Let’s keep up the good work and saddle up for another memorable
Regis Auction.
We’ll be seeing you – Saturday,
October 16th, 2010 at the Regis Wild West Round-up!
