2011 Regis Auction We have a few unique items that we would like to present to you. Post time 5:00 pm Saturday, October 15, 2011 Fund-An-Item -- A new track surface Regis literally has a great track record. It has arguably hosted more athletes than any other athletic facility on campus and been a great neighbor to the community, but it’s simply worn out. The track was already 25 years old when it was last resurfaced in 1995 at a cost of $75,000. The current surface is 16 years old and it’s been top coated more than once, at a cost of $10,000 each time. Now the very soundness of the track is at stake, and top coating will not repair the crumbling, cracks and wear and tear that are visible down to the pavement in many places. The proposal is to remove the existing surface down to the black top, take care of any existing problems with the sub-layer, and then lay a brand new surface. In preparation, the high jump and shot put areas are being moved and Oregon State Bridge Company is donating the excavation of these new areas. But the cost of the remaining project is huge, approximately $100,000. The 2011 Auction is the first of many fundraisers planned for the 2012 track project and we hope to get it off to a fast start!
