John & Debbie Beitel |
Parents and Friends of Regis, Debbie and I would like to introduce ourselves as the chairpersons of the annual Regis Auction. We are both alumni, and we know firsthand the value of a Catholic education. I am a graduate of St. Boniface grade school, a 1970 Regis graduate and a 1974 graduate of Oregon State. I've been a grass seed farmer since my days at Regis and have served on the St. Boniface Parish Council and the St. Mary School Board. Debbie is a 1971 St. Mary graduate. She graduated from Regis in 1975, and from Western Oregon in 1979. Lucky for us, Debbie is a stay-at-home mom now after many years with Children's Services. We have two children. J.R. is a sophomore at Regis and Michael, an eighth-grader at St. Mary, will be attending Regis this fall. What better way to spend a night out with your friends than at the Regis Auction? Las Vegas calls itself the Entertainment Capital of the World and we're borrowing a bit of the renowned glitz and glamour for this year's theme, A Night in Vegas. This will not be a “casino night” but we hope to keep you entertained as you support Regis. As part of the festivities, we will have an Elvis impersonator contest at this year’s event. So all you Elvis wannabes should start working on your costumes now! We would like to thank those of you who have helped make past auctions so successful, those who put in countless hours of work, and those who come and willingly open their wallets. It is now more important than ever that we keep Regis’ biggest fundraiser roaring along. Because of rising costs and changing demographics, enrollment at Regis might be lower for the next few years. But with your support, we can continue to keep tuition affordable. The storage room is already filling up with donated items, and all the committee chair positions have been filled. Also, Sharon Keudell will be our “official” photographer, Joe Wolf will oversee our sound needs, and Sam Brentano will again preside as our Master of Ceremonies. Our most heartfelt thanks to all of those who have volunteered to be chairpersons, and to those who have already volunteered to serve on the various committees. But more help is always welcome, and needed. So please feel free to step up and offer your time and talents. You might be surprised by how much fun you’ll have and how many new and lasting friendships you’ll make! Debbie and I welcome suggestions and are open to any new ideas. Don’t be afraid to give us a call. We are always looking for ways to make the Regis Auction an even bigger success! Sincerely, John and Debbie Beitel |
