SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Science Department offers students the opportunity to develop critical inquiry, scientific observation and deduction, and problem solving skills through its various physical and life science courses.

Courses take an investigative and inquiry based approach through various laboratory activities, experiments, and projects. Students are encouraged to collaborate on research and problem solving to develop interpersonal and team skills.

Students should leave our courses with an appreciation of the scale of the physical and biological universe, the role of science in predicting patterns in nature and carrying out experiments to support or refute such hypotheses, and science as the basis for the development of technology. Students will become well-educated future citizens so they may contribute to important decisions regarding the role of science in their school and community.
