MATH DEPARTMENT
OVERVIEW
The Math Department curriculum and instructional practices are designed
to cultivate student's abilities to investigate, to make sense of and to construct meaning
from new situations.
Methods are taught to make and provide
arguments for conjectures and to use a flexible set of strategies to solve problems posed in
the context of a real-world situation. Students use technology appropriately to investigate,
conjecture, and verify their findings while the teacher's role shifts from merely dispensing
information to facilitating learning.
